Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 May 2026

Sitewise is built around a simple principle: your inspection data belongs to you and stays on your device. This policy explains what limited information we do collect, what we don't, and how App Store services interact with the app.

This policy applies to the Sitewise iOS application (“the App”) and this website (sitewise.com.au, “the Site”), operated by Hani Motassam (“we”, “us”, “Sitewise”), ABN 69 141 033 204.

1. The short version

  • Inspections, photos, and reports stay on your device. We do not operate a server that receives your inspection content.
  • We don't track you across the web. No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App.
  • Subscription and purchase data is handled by Apple. We see only that you have an active subscription, not your payment details.
  • If you email us, we'll see your email. Obviously.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

When you sign up for our launch mailing list on this Site, we collect your email address. We use it to send you product updates and launch announcements. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

When you contact us at hello@sitewise.com.au or support@sitewise.com.au, we receive your email address and whatever you write to us, and store that correspondence in a standard email inbox.

2.2 Information the App processes locally

The App stores the following entirely on your device, in a local SQLite database and your iOS sandbox file system:

  • Inspection records (site, address, date, inspector, client, notes)
  • Defect records (area, category, severity, description)
  • Photos taken via the in-app camera or selected from your photo library
  • Numbered markers and voice-transcribed labels
  • Generated PDF and Word reports
  • Your branding settings (logo, colour, company details)
  • App preferences (theme, default templates)

This data does not leave your device unless you explicitly share a report (via email, AirDrop, or another sharing destination you choose).

2.3 Information collected by Apple's App Store

When you purchase a subscription, Apple processes the transaction. We do not see your credit card or Apple ID. We receive only:

  • An anonymous, randomised customer identifier
  • Whether your “Pro” entitlement is active and when it expires
  • Whether your subscription will renew

This information is provided via RevenueCat, a subscription management service we use. See Third parties below.

2.4 Permissions the App requests

  • Camera — to take photos of defects.
  • Photo Library — to attach existing photos to a defect, and to upload your company logo.
  • Microphone — to record voice labels for photo markers (transcribed on-device).
  • Speech Recognition — to convert your spoken marker labels to text.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Sitewise.

3. Information we do not collect

The following are explicitly outside what we collect:

  • Your name (unless you tell us in a support email)
  • Your physical location or GPS coordinates
  • Your contacts
  • Browsing history outside this Site
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
  • Device fingerprinting beyond what Apple provides for crash reporting

4. Third parties

4.1 Apple

Apple processes App Store purchases and downloads. Apple's privacy practices are described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

4.2 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA) to manage subscription state. RevenueCat receives an anonymised customer identifier from your device and Apple's subscription receipt, and tells the App whether your Pro entitlement is active. RevenueCat's privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.

4.3 Netlify

This Site is hosted on Netlify (Netlify, Inc., USA). Netlify receives standard web server logs (IP address, user agent, page requested, timestamp). When you submit the launch signup form, Netlify Forms stores your email address and forwards it to us. Netlify's privacy policy is at netlify.com/privacy.

4.4 Google Fonts

This Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser may share your IP address and user agent with Google in order to fetch font files. Google does not associate this with any identifier we provide.

5. How we use your information

  • Launch list email: we send launch announcements and significant product updates. Roughly 1–3 emails per year.
  • Support email: we reply to your message and may keep the thread for future reference.
  • Subscription status: we use this to gate Pro features in the App.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with third parties for advertising. We do not run an analytics dashboard that tracks individual users.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Request a copy of that information
  • Ask us to correct it if it's wrong
  • Ask us to delete it (subject to legal retention obligations)
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au

Email us at hello@sitewise.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days.

7. Data retention

  • Email signup list: retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Support correspondence: retained for up to 3 years from the date of your last contact.
  • Subscription records: retained for as long as you have an active subscription, plus 7 years for tax purposes.
  • App data on your device: retained until you delete it or uninstall the App.

8. Children

Sitewise is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where the relevant age is 16). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Security

Your inspection data is stored on your device and protected by the same security as anything else on your iPhone (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). When you transmit data to us — for example, via the launch signup form — that transmission is encrypted via TLS.

We rely on Apple's and Netlify's infrastructure security for the limited data they hold on our behalf. No system is completely secure, but we've designed Sitewise to minimise the data that exists in the first place.

10. International transfers

Apple, RevenueCat, Netlify, and Google operate servers in the United States and other countries. By using the App or Site you consent to your information being processed in those countries.

11. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when we change anything material. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the change. For significant changes affecting how we use your data, we'll also email everyone on our launch list.
